Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 25, 2026

This policy describes what information OpenBell collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We try to keep this short and plain-English.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

  • Email address and (optionally) display name.
  • Authentication identifiers from Google when you sign in with Google.
  • Hashed password if you sign up with email/password (we never see your plaintext password).

Trading & journal data

  • Trades, notes, watchlists, and journal entries you create or import.
  • Performance metrics derived from your data.

Billing information

  • Subscription status, plan, and billing history. Card details are handled directly by Stripe — we never store full card numbers.

Usage information

  • Basic device, browser, and log data needed to operate and secure the service.

2. How We Use Information

  • To operate the OpenBell service and your account.
  • To process payments and prevent fraud (via Stripe).
  • To send transactional emails (e.g., receipts, password resets, important account notices).
  • To improve the product, fix bugs, and provide support.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Service providers who help us run OpenBell, including Supabase (database & auth), Stripe (payments), and market data providers.
  • Legal authorities when required by law or to protect our rights and users.
  • A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to this policy.

4. Data Storage & Security

Data is stored in managed cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is restricted by role-based permissions and database row-level security so that one user cannot access another user's data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to maintain industry-standard protections.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and journal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is removed from our active systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, billing records) for legal or accounting purposes.

6. Your Rights & Choices

  • Access & export — you can export your trade and journal data from Settings at any time.
  • Correction — you can edit your account profile in Settings.
  • Deletion — you can delete your account from Settings → Account & Profile, which removes your data from active systems.
  • Marketing — we only send transactional emails by default. Any optional product updates can be unsubscribed from at any time.
  • Depending on where you live (e.g., EU/UK/California), you may have additional rights such as portability, restriction, or objection. Contact us to exercise them.

7. Cookies

OpenBell uses essential cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in and to remember preferences (like your selected tab and theme). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

8. Children

OpenBell is not directed to children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

9. International Users

OpenBell is operated from the United States. By using the service, you understand your data may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice before they take effect.
